Understand what you can do to reduce the high NOx emission rates in your industry and understand why this reduction is important!
Throughout the various processes that take place within industries, there is a high rate of emission of various polluting gases that can be harmful to both health and the environment. One of them is NOx, nitrogen oxide, which is considered one of the major industrial problems and its rates are controlled by environmental agencies.
The formation of these gases by the industry occurs due to the high temperatures of the thermal processes, and many companies are unable to control the NOx emission, therefore, they end up being forced to inject gases to reduce it, which significantly impacts their operating costs.
A great example of how the high emission rate of this polluting gas occurs is in the mining industry, in the pelletizing kilns, because with its operating conditions, such as high temperatures and high adjustment air index, they are suitable for NOx formation.
To reduce the emission of nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere, Dynamis created a great solution that consequently impacts the cost reduction by cutting down emissions, and that is what we will talk about in today’s post.
Why reduce NOx emissions in your industry?
Having its emission rate controlled by environmental agencies, nitrogen oxide is formed by two very polluting compounds, which are nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide, which can cause several complications in the environment, contributing with around 25 30% for acid rain, when they come into contact with water and form nitric acid.
However, according to some scientists, the release of NOx into the atmosphere can be much more damaging to people’s health, reaching areas such as the lung, which can cause edema.
For this reason, CONAMA (National Council for the Environment) has established some emission standards not only for these gases but also for other pollutants.
The standardization of NOx emissions in the atmosphere is calculated based on the value of the nominal thermal power per MW and the type of fuel that is used in this process.
If the industry does not meet the standards specified in the law, it will be subject to fines, so it is important and mandatory to maintain control of the nitrogen oxides that are emitted.
However, to maintain this control, many companies are forced to inject gases to reduce it and this can end up in high cost in their operational processes. For this reason, Dynamis has developed a solution that has already helped several industries to reduce this emission rate and consequently cut down on the costs of these injections for reduction.
How to reduce NOx emissions in your industry?
To reduce the emission of NOx into the atmosphere, Dynamis offers a complete and customized solution, which begins with the collection of data from the customer’s plant and a simulation of the current operational condition. After this simulation, an engineering study is carried out involving methods and tools to evaluate kilns. In it, fluid dynamics simulations will be used in the application of complex models to simulate chemical kinetics and turbulence in industrial combustion processes. With this, it will be possible to define which of these devices and processes will have the most effective for the reduction of NOx emission.
With this solution, Dynamis is able to predict with reasonable precision what is the possible reduction after applying the measures recommended by the study.
To prove the effectiveness of our method, one of our success cases took place in Egypt, on a clinker production line, where, from an engineering study, the position and some fuel injection parameters were modified, and together with the use of D-CBurners burners, it was possible to define a better gas mixture with it, which initially led to an estimate of a 25% reduction in NOx gases emitted by the industry.
Dynamis technology can be the ideal solution for your company to be able to reduce the emission of these gases in the environment, since our studies achieve a significant reduction in this rate and consequently reducing the operating costs of the industry.
